n. 1. a very small amount of light. 2. a very small lighting fixture. syn. phoscule [f. Gk. phôs-, phōt- 'light' + L. -culus, diminutive suffix]
Twice Out Of Paradise (TOOP) is a dance production by Jeanne Bloch. TOOP proposes to use artistic and technical experimentation as an engine for positive social change in the context of environmental issues. The production behaves as an ecosystem, and dancers, stage and light are entirely co-dependent. PhoScope researched and provided alternative light tectonics that contrast with conventional stage lighting design, and has developed a framework for experimentation. Work in progress was presented in residencies at the Espace 104 (TOOP) and the Centre National de la Danse (5Watts).
